to hell and bark
Design Work for the theatrical production and feature film.
To Hell & Bark was a theatrical production recorded and edited into a feature film. Inspired by Filmmakers like Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie) and Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline) and TV & Film Production Designer Bo Welch (Beetlejuice), this project included designing projected backgrounds for the theatrical production and corresponding animated elements for the feature film version. Included below are also the Teaser Poster, and a sample of the unique alphabet designed for the feature film to round out the look of the movie and keep every title and name in the credits looking fresh even with repeating letters.

The Teaser Poster for 'To Hell & Bark' - keeping in line with Truman Pictures' handmade aesthetic, the initial design was drafter and finalized using Procreate, then brought into Adobe Illustrator to create the standard poster text.

A custom alphabet was created for 'To Hell & Bark' to better fit the look and feel of the film than a pre-made typeface could provide. As the titles were meant to look scrawled and original with each piece of text, four of every character was created to give the text some life and to ensure that any title/name with repeated letters never looked the same. Designed on Procreate and Edited in Adobe Illustrator.

'Lou's Inferno' - an animated element used in conjunction with multiple layers as a transition within the feature film. Designed, and Animated in Procreate.

A looping animated gif of souls floating upwards. Designed to work in conjunction with other assets to create a finished, animated image.

Animated text elements overlayed onto the finished film. Text was animated based on the actor's original handwriting. Elements designed and animated in Procreate, compiled in Adobe Premiere Pro.
